Mr Jamaine Johnson

Mon 19 Dec 2022
We are sharing some incredibly sad and upsetting news about a valued member of our school community, Jamaine Johnson. Sadly, we learned over the weekend that Jamaine passed away following an accident.

Jamaine was a wonderful colleague who was highly respected and regarded by staff and students alike. His passion for his subject and his care for students, particularly, those whom he mentored, was clear for everyone to see. The loss we all feel is greater and deeper because of this.

I am sure you will join us in sending condolences to his family. A number of students have asked if they can lay flowers and a space for this has been identified under the tunnel by reception. We will also be opening a book of condolence which can be completed in the academy or completed online.

The academy will aim to remain open as we want to be here to provide what support we can for both students and staff as they hear of this news. However, you will understand if these change over the next couple of days.

Schools are often described as communities and it is at these extremely sad and difficult times that that community needs to come together in support of one another. This will be to provide a place to grieve, to share and to support.

We are very conscious that the end of term is in just 3 days time and should families need any further information, advice and support that useful and helpful links can be found through the academy website at https://mentalwellbeing.outwood.com/ . This may be beneficial in the coming days and weeks.
